As part of our mission is to de-commodify opportunities to build community, get inspired, and create art in a variety of media.
This is why nearly all of our Events, Classes, Workshops, use of tools and materials (etc) are offered freely. While we appreciate Donations, they are really and truly optional!
If you’ve enjoyed yourself / learned something new / met some interesting people / been inspired (etc) AND are feeling generous, you are invited to pay forward whatever amount works for you.
We started listing Suggested Sliding Scale donation ranges because a lot of people find an open-ended, optional invitation uncomfortable. Fair; it’s complicated, messy work to unlearn the capitalist, colonial assumptions about money and transactions!
As we grow into new systems of reciprocity that value everyone’s unique conditions and capacities, here is some additional Sliding Scale guidance:
If money is tight, you are welcome to pay (or not) at the lower end of the scale. No questions asked. We’ve got you!
If you can afford to pay at the higher end of the scale, that helps us make our space and events accessible to a wider range of people.
Some of us have access to enough money to regularly eat out, buy fancy gadgets, go on vacations, etc. If this sounds like you, please consider contributing at or beyond the high end of the recommended scale. At the moment, one person is covering the gap between the money we bring in and what we pay for rent, utilities, insurance, equipment maintenance, regulatory fees, taxes… and it would be sweet to share that load ❤
